
Charles E. Perry Jr., 88, of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Nancy B. (Vincent) Perry, died Sunday (August 12, 2012). He was born November 3, 1923 in Hampton, VA., son of the late Charles E. Perry Sr. and Estella A. (Tessmann) Perry and had been a resident of Manchester for more than 60 years. Charles was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II and was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Manchester. Mr. Perry earned a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Connecticut and prior to his retirement, he had been a History Teacher with the Manchester Board of Education and finished his 40 year career from Bennett Junior High School in 1986. Mr. Perry was known as a dedicated educator and family man. He is survived by three children, James M. Perry and his wife Tanda of Manchester, William L. Perry and his wife Elizabeth also of Manchester, Barbara (Perry) Hallisey and her husband James of Andover, six grandchildren, Jessica Guay and her husband Thomas, Timothy Perry, Elijah Perry, Connor Hallisey, Matthew Hallisey, Molly Hallisey, and two great grandchildren, Alexia and Joshua Guay. He was predeceased by a daughter Susan Marie Perry. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the caregivers for the wonderful care provided.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Funeral services and burial will be private with Military Honors in the East Cemetery.
