John C Weir, 82, of Cotuit passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2024, at his home. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and attended Manchester, CT schools and was a graduate of Paul Smith college with a degree in hotel and restaurant management. With this degree and his determination, he became a successful restaurant entrepreneur of two restaurants on Cape Cod. After retiring from the restaurant business, his love of the outdoors steered him to create his own landscaping and bobcat business which led him to become a familiar face to many around the village.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who with his wife, Lorraine purchased and enjoyed a 60-acre farm in New Hampshire. His hard work allowed him to pursue his passions of hunting, ATV riding and snowmobiling. He enjoyed sharing this piece of paradise with all those who would visit.
His life on Cape Cod was also filled with an abundance of outdoor activities, including digging for steamers and quahogs, fishing, and enjoying the company of his many springer spaniels.
He was an avid treasure hunter at yard sales on Saturday mornings. His very creative ability to gather his finds culminated with a large and well-known sportsman’s yard sale held every July.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine Weir, his daughter Trish (Weir) Hill and husband, Scott, son, John C Weir, Jr and wife, Mai, and his two grandsons, Nick Weir, and Jason Hill.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in the memory of John, to the charity of one’s choice.
