BELTON - Ronald Richard Shurkus, Sr., 68, husband of Sharon Morton Shurkus married 40 yrs, of 1937 James Cox Rd. died Monday, March 19, 2012 at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Stephen Sr. and Helen Justice Shurkus. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: sons, Michael Shurkus and wife Bessie of Townville, Ronald Shurkus, Jr. and wife Christine of Chesapeake, VA; daughter, Jennifer Russell and husband Stephen of Belton; brother, Stephen Shurkus, Jr. and wife Denise of Madison, CT; nephews, Christopher Shurkus and Andrew Shurkus; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and his beloved pet Ariel.
Service will be conducted 11am Thursday at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Carroll Plemmons, Rev. Andy Hall, Dr. Ron Culbertson and Sandi Ratcliffe officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm Wednesday at Cox Funeral Home.
Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate or Southern Care Hospice.
The family will be at the residence.
