Marshall Potter

Marshall “Marsh” Potter, 81, of East Hartford, passed away at his own home on March 12, 2025. He was born on October 22, 1943, in Manchester, CT, the son of the late Sherwood B. and Dorothy Marshall Potter.

Marsh was an MHS graduate, where he was a decorated athlete, attended Springfield College, and worked for many years at Pratt & Whitney. Marsh was a passionate fan of many sports, with a special love for the New York Yankees, He loved attending local games, talking sports with his family and friends, and spending time at The Willow and British American Club laughing with his buddies. Everywhere he went, Marsh seemed to attract others, making them laugh (and/or shake their head).

Marsh is survived by his son, Kurt Marshall Potter and his wife Jill(Bycholski), along with their children, Quin and Liliana, with whom he had wonderful relationships, all of Bolton, CT. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Duncan (Robert-deceased) of Vernon, as well as many nieces, nephews that he adored, and many lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Sherwood Todd Potter (Noreen) of Stratford.

Friends may gather with the family on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home in Manchester. Casual dress and Yankees gear are encouraged. The family would like to thank all the health care professionals who assisted him recently (Shyenne), Elder Care in  Manchester, and in the past, as well as all of his friends and neighbors that have been such a big part of his life.

Really sorry to learn of Marshall's passing.

My remembrances of Marshall centers around how good of an althlete he was from the

beginnings of Midget Basketball, Little League and then on throughout MHS.

We also loved to go to his home on the WestSide and slide down the hill next to the

Cheney Mills on cardboard boxes.

My sincere condolences to his many friends, family and teamates on numerous sport teams.

So sorry to hear about Marsh. We grew up together on the West Side and played ball from little league through High Schhol. He was a great athlete and a good friend. RIP
