
Robert G. "Bob" King Jr., 75, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Elaine A. (Lasek) King, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 30, 1943 in New London, CT, son of the late Robert G. King Sr, and Celeste (Delorme) King. Bob grew up in Manchester and was a graduate of St. James School and Manchester High School. He went on to study at the Hartford School of Accounting. Bob retired from C & S Distributors as a Chief Financial Officer after 35 years of service. He was married to the love of his life, Elaine Lasek on October 20, 1990 and together they settled in South Windsor. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Skungamaug River Golf Club. He was an avid reader and spent much time at the South Windsor Public Library. Bob had a special place in his heart for the theater and was a patron of the Opera House Players in Broad Brook. Bob loved birds, feeding, watching, and learning about them. A kind, caring, generous, and family-oriented man who will be dearly missed. Along with his wife Elaine of over 27 years, he leaves his daughter, Debra K. Bobey and her husband Michael of Tolland; his step-daughters, Lori Faucher-Sgro of Tolland, and Lisa Levasseur and her husband Rodney of Stafford Springs; his grandchildren, Tyler Bobey and his wife Jessica of Vernon, Andrew Bobey of Tolland, and Richard Sgro of San Francisco, CA; his great grandson, Landon T. Bobey of Vernon; and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Sobol of Burlington. His family will receive friends on Friday, July 13, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018, 10 a.m., at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor. Burial will be private at the request of his family.
