William Kerin

William Kerin

William Joseph Kerin, age 81, passed away peacefully at John Dempsey Hospital on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, his devoted wife Louise by his side. Bill proudly served the town of Plainville for 31 years, retiring as Police Sergeant in 2001. A golf enthusiast for most of his life, Bill enjoyed spending his retirement as a starter on the first tee at Westwoods Golf Course in Farmington for many years.

Bill was known for his strong stature, a hearty laugh and his firm voice. Yet, he was always there for a kind word, a shoulder to lean on, a hand to hold and an ear to listen. He gave great advice when asked, always responding with a smile. He loved his family and was a true gentleman.

Bill was pre-deceased by his parents, Edward and Josephine Kerin, his brother Edward and his sisters, Lynn Cormier and Miriam Keith.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Louise Kerin, his daughters Wendy Kerin and her partner Jay Buchanan, Kristin Kerin and her daughter Isabelle, his brother Robert Kerin and his wife Randi, his sister Leah Giblo, his sisters-in-law Theresa Kerin and Mae-Ellen Winzler and her husband Drew, his brother-in-law Charles Cormier, many nieces and nephews and his faithful dog Spenser.

The family would like to thank the staff at John Dempsey Hospital, Accentcare, Bill’s hospice provider, Day-Break of Farmington, Interim Home Care and his providers at UCONN’s Department of Geriatrics. The family offers special thanks to the officers of the Plainville Police Department for their kindness, compassion and support. Thank you to our family and friends for their understanding and support. We will miss Bill’s wonderful smile, joyful voice and beautiful songs.

A private family service will be held at the gravesite. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or your favorite animal rescue organization.
