In Memory

Patricia Hood (Kenny)

Patricia Hood (Kenny)

Patricia H. Kenny, 80, of Ellington, and loving wife of Brian Kenny, went to eternal rest on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Manchester Hospital. She was born Nov. 3, 1943, in Hartford, to the late Richard and Lucille (Rozman) Hood. Married to her loving husband, Brian, in 1972, they had just celebrated 52 years of marriage together, living in Ellington, raising their family.
She attended Manchester High School, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Hartford and a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Connecticut. She taught English at East Hartford High School and then Special Education at Ellington High School for 18 years before retiring in 2008. She loved flowers and working with colors in her garden and quilting. Friends were often amazed at her knowledge of plants and flowers with whom she always shared cuttings and seeds.
She touched many lives of her students in special education and was an active member of St. Luke Church in Ellington and Blessed Sacrament Parish in Rockville, initiating and active in many parish programs in the church she dearly loved. She was active in the Cursillo prayer group, right-to-life activities, leading parish Bible studies, lecturing at Mass, and being a Communion Minister, among many other activities. Bringing communion to those unable to attend church was one of her greatest joys. She loved to read and in recent years, really enjoyed her time with the Green Beaners Book Club.
She left a legacy of serving others with her three sons, Brian, Patrick and Brendan, and their families. She is survived by her sisters, Sandy, Lucille and her husband, Scott; their sons and their wives, Brian and Sarah, Patrick and Myoungho, Brendan and Noelle; and nine grandchildren: Kylie, Alina, Alicia, Sean, Leila, Nina, Natalie, Jack and Finn.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4-7 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024, at St. Bernard's Church (Blessed Sacrament Parish), 25 St. Bernard's Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Rockville.
The funeral Mass will also be live streamed at https://Blessedsacramentct.org/funeral
Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville, CT 06066.

Pat and I were great friends in high school and remained a friendship after school. She was one of the kindest, Giving, talented and loving Angels in my life. Rest in peace. Love you, Patricia, MJ.

My sincere condolences to Pat's family and all her many

MHS 61 friends as well on her passing.

With the size of MHS at the time, not everyone stands out but

Pat made our group of classmates memorable.

We lose track of many friends thru the years but their memory

always brings a smile to your face:  Pat was just that kind of

friend.

With best regards,

Dave Sibrinsz

Patty and I have known each other since very early childhood . We grew up on the same street on the west side across from the West Side Oval.  I often helped her with her Manchester Evening Herald newspaper route so we could get back to the basegame game .  Many memories in High School belongning to the same Group Of Girls.  I lost track of Patty after high school but from what I have been reading we had a lot of common and she seemed to be a wonderful family person.  She will be missed and my condolences go out to her family

I have so many wonderful memories with Patty and our group of girls "GOG".  From driving down Main Street on Thursday nights, sleepovers at different houses, sneaking our first cigareetes from our parents.  We had the best of the best in our high school years at MHS.  Patty you were the best!  Rest IN Peace my friend.
