
Diane Gunther Castagna, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Adelbert J. and Madlyn (Hardell) Gunther. Diane lived life to the fullest. She spent her career as a neurosurgical nurse at Hartford Hospital where she was loved by colleagues and patients alike for her kindness and humor. Diane's passions were family, art, horses, painting and travel to Sante Fe, NM and Jackson, WY. An adventurous spirit, whether collecting pottery and jewelry from the American Southwest or shopping with her sister and daughter at Anthropology, Diane appreciated the beauty of her surroundings. She is predeceased by her sister Marsha Gunther and remembered and loved by her daughter and son-in-law, Aprile(Castagna) and Gian Paolo Cappuzzo of Virginia, her son Christopher Castagna and his partner Sonya Gulliksen of Hebron, and many loving relatives and friends, including Scott and Maria Ardel of West Hartford, Craig and Lourdes Ardel of Coventry, Sandy and Michael Walsh of Woodstock Valley, Donna Riley of Manchester and Jodi Talaga of Manchester.
