
Carol (Frazier) Ashton, 81, of Manchester, CT, and Stuart, FL, beloved wife to the late John G. Ashton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2024. She was born on January 21, 1943, in Middletown, CT, one of two children to the late David and Mary (Robinson) Frazier.
Carol grew up in Manchester, attended local schools and was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1961. Following high school, she was employed for a short time at the Traveler’s Insurance Company before taking some time off to raise her family. As her family grew older, Carol revisited her career employed by a number of companies before ultimately retiring from A-Tech Commercial Parts & Service, LLC, in Windsor. Carol was a longtime member of the former St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, in Manchester. In her younger years, she enjoyed knitting, making Irish sweaters and lots of hats and mittens for her kids. She was an avid photographer. She loved taking pictures of flowers, landscapes and most of all her family. She was considered the family photographer for holidays and functions, and every day things. She enjoyed spending time tending to her indoor plants and flowers, she especially loved her African Violets. Each year she looked forward to traveling to her home in Florida, and spending time with family that lives there. Most of all, she looked forward to the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was so important to her, and the children were everything.
Carol is survived by her three children, Robin Glenney and her husband Irvin of Bolton, CT, Diane Barrett of Manchester, CT, and John Ashton and his wife Dawn of Port St. Lucie, FL; her seven grandchildren, Ashley Glenney, Cody Barrett and his wife Kristen, Casey Barrett and his fiancé Alison Ryan, Camden Barrett, Caroline Barrett, Noah Ashton and Jonah Ashton; her four great-grandchildren, Mia Rivera-Martinez, Charlotte Barrett, Aria Barrett and Lucy Barrett; her sister, Elizabeth Hewitt and her husband William of Stuart, FL; as well as extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband and parents. The family would like to thank the staff of Watercrest Senior Living / Memory Care Facility in Port St. Lucie for the loving care they took of Carol during her stay there.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 13, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.
