Donald Strickland

Donald R. Strickland, 57, of Manchester, died unexpectedly Tuesday, (January 18, 2000) at his home.  Born October 21, 1942 in Manchester, son of Ethel (Boyle) Strickland of Manchester and the late Roy L. Strickland, he had been a lifelong resident.  Mr. Strickland was employed as a mold maker for Advanced Molding of South Windsor for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1999 due to his health.  He was a member of Friendship Lodge #145 A.F. and A.M., a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Hartford, the Sphinx Temple of Newington, the Washington Orange Lodge #117, the Washington Social Club of Manchester and the Manchester Lodge of Elks.  Besides his mother, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Teri J. Donnelly of Willimantic and Lori A. and Joseph Carilli of Coventry; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, William J. Strickland of Manchester, David M. and Dodie Strickland of Manchester and Thomas E. and Laurie Strickland of Coventry; six grandchildren, Bryan, Brandon, Jessica and Michelle Carilli and Jocelin Donnelly and Robert Gamache; an aunt, Barbara Strickland of Manchester and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond C. Strickland.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.  Burial will follow in Buckland Cemetery, Manchester.  Friends may call at the funeral home, Friday Jan. 21, 5-8 p.m.  There will be a Masonic Service Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association of Greater Hartford, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT, 06492, or the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA, 01104
