John Rice,

If Dick Toce was your friend growing up, you were a lucky kid. I didn't get to know him till H.S. because I moved to Lake St. We ended up getting together over horses, him buying one.

A good guy, no doubt.    Ron

I remember Richard Toce very well, having lived on Lake Street also.  I would go to the their house in the Spring and help pick raspberries for them to sell at their stand.

Nancy,

Nice to hear from you regarding Dick. There are stories that should be told about Dick. He didn't ride the bus with the rest of us. I don't know how he got to school, probably drove a motorcycle. Who knows. I think he went with a girl named Thelma Reynolds.

He stayed around the area for a long time working on motorcycles. He owned his own shop for a long time. RRATS motorcycles. I used to stop in a talk with him when I was riding. He and I were friends, did some horse stuff,(he owned a horse) at the Ladabouche house there at the corner of Lake St. The Calve's were also into it, John and Andy. There were good guys also. They lived on a little farm there on Rte. 6 that back-end butted Lake St.

What simpler times we had then. I had moved out of the North End of Manchester. It was like moving to the moon.

You remembered Dick and his Mother. A fine thing...

I never realized we were all such close neighbors... I grew up on Cider Mill Road ... sad to see another classmate pass on... but there's a better place than this world... sad for those left behind.. at least for now... one day.. I can't wait to see all those I love that have gone on to that better place ...

Ron,

I did not realize or maybe I have just forgotten, that you lived on Lake Street.  We also moved there from North Manchester and for me it felt isolated.  Now my brother Bob loved it.  He was into the whole hunting, fishing, horses thing and ended up being a guide in Montana.

Boy, was Dick lucky he didn't have to ride the bus.  If I missed the bus I had to walk home.  No late buses in those days. I think Dick lived with his grandparents also.

I remember John & Andy Calve.  They were nice guys.  It was simpler times.  Lots to remember.

Nancy
