Ronald P. Stephens, 60, of Mansfield Center, beloved husband of 35 years to Janet (Guigui) Stephens, and proud father of Kim Stephens, died Saturday, (January 25, 2003) after a hard fought battle with cancer. Ron was born in Hartford, son of Betty (Turner) Stephens of Bolton and the late Robert Stephens. Ron graduated from Manchester High School Class of 1961. Ron served in the U.S. Army in Hawaii from 1964 to 1966 as a Staff Sargent. Upon completion of his duties, he worked at Pratt and Whitney, Allied Printing, and Pasek Realtors. For the past 23 years, Ron and his wife owned and operated Parousia Press, their printing business in Storrs, where he harvested many talents such as computer networking. In his spare time, Ron enjoyed tending to his yard and vegetable garden as well as being involved with a variety of outdoor activities which include: hiking Mt. Katahdin, camping and canoeing in Allegash, ME, and evening walks and bike rides with his wife and daughter in the woods of Mansfield Center. Ron's favorite pastime was faithfully attending all of his daughter's sports activities in softball, basketball and soccer and watching his favorite team, the Red Sox. Besides Ron's wife, Janet and his daughter, Kim, he is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Bob McCrewell and their sons, Mike and Steve of South Windham, and Cherie and Norm Richards and their daughters, Kelly and Jan of Tolland; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Momi Guigui, Francis and Amy Guigui, Lawrence and Wanda Guigui, Ray and Julita Ford; several nieces and nephews in Hawaii; as well as several cousins, aunts, and friends. A memorial service will be held for Ron on Friday, January 31, 1 p.m. at the Bolton United Methodist Church, 1031 Boston Tpk., Bolton. His family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of North 9 at Hartford Hospital, the staff of Center for Neuro-Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
