Sylvia Smith

 Sylvia I. Smith, 62, of Manchester, entered into eternal glory to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 3, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late George J. and Isabelle (Abraitis) Smith. A registered nurse, Sylvia received her nursing degree and a masters in nursing and worked in the health field as a dedicated and caring nurse for 35 years, retiring from St. Francis Hospital after 27 years of service. A member and communicant of St. James Church she was active in many church functions, including the church carnival. She also volunteered at the MACC shelter.

A beloved and wonderful sister, she is survived by Elizabeth and Philip Medeiros of South

Windsor, George and Mary Smith of Vernon, James and Elizabeth Smith of Marlborough, and Kathleen and Thaddeus Obieglo of Rocky Hill. She is also sur­vived by nine nieces and nephews, five grand-nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart; and many dear friends and associates, especially Sister St. Henry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 9, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, Main Street, Manchester.
