Diane Lesiczka (Duggan)

Diane M. (Lesiczka) Duggan, 71, of Enfield, beloved wife of Owen E. Duggan, died Tuesday (April 14, 2015) at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford. Born in Manchester on August 30, 1943, daughter of the late Stephen and Marie (Moonan) Lesiczka. She had lived in Enfield for 50 years. In addition to her loving husband of 52 years, Owen, she leaves three devoted children, Michael O. Duggan and his wife, Katherine of Colchester, VT, Cynthia D. Jennings and her husband, Patrick of Granby and Jonathan O. Duggan and his wife, Doreen in New Hampshire; a brother, Thomas Lesiczka and his wife, Deirdre in New Haven; nine adoring grandchildren, Ashley, Thomas, Shannon, Brayden, Ella, Sheamus, Heath, Hope and Iain; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Diane was a "friend to all". An altruistic, loving woman, she touched many in her life. Diane was a "bleeding heart liberal" a true progressive, who was civically active in her local and global community. She would prophesize her beliefs with all those who would listen. She was for equal opportunity and justice for all. Her favorite quote was by Jimi Hendrix, "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." Diane worked for many years at Southwood Pharmacy while studying at Asnuntuck College. As a non traditional student, Diane maintained a 4.0 cumulative average and earned a full scholarship to the University of Hartford. At that time her life changed after bravely surviving a brain aneurysm. She took on employment at Control Module Inc. as a circuit board assembler. Diane then operated and managed her own home daycare. She then pursued what she believed to be her true calling, "being Grandma". She made time to volunteer at Granville Village School, where she touched the lives of many young children. She knew how to inspire and motivate the students by working with their strengths and instilling confidence. Diane's hobbies included finding a bargain at the outlets or tag sales only to share her treasures with those in need. Diane also, literally gave of herself by being a regular platelet donor, many years donating the maximum amount possible.
