David H. Johnson, 75, of Vernon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2018, with his family by his side. He was born on June 7, 1943 in Manchester to the late Harvey and Grace (Howard) Johnson. He grew up in the North End and graduated from Manchester High School. He worked for many years at Klock Company in Manchester and Special Steel Treating in East Granby before retiring in 2011. David was an avid pool, chess and card player. He was a member of the Hartford Metro Cribbage Club, achieving Bronze status and played set-back competitively. He and his wife Sharon loved traveling with Sharon's sisters and brothers in law to Cape Cod and Bar Harbor Maine. In recent years he took those trips with his children and grandchildren. David is survived by his children; his daughter, Patricia Johnson of Tolland; his son, Eric Johnson of Vernon and his beloved grandchildren, Caitlin Cardin, Alex Johnson, Meghan Cardin and Jacob Johnson as well as his sister and her husband Dawn and Donald Rivest of Feeding Hills, Mass, his sister in law and her husband, Maureen and Morris Webber of Ellington and his sister in law Ursula Dyer of Plainville Mass, his beloved friends John and Kinuko Stoutnar and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Sharon (Lynch) on August 12, 2014. Relatives and friends may join the family for a Funeral Service on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 10:00 at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville.
