Roger Harry

Roger Harry

Roger was born in Hartford, Connecticut and grew up in Manchester, Connecticut. For the last 25 years, he lived in Plainville, Connecticut with his partner, soulmate, and best friend, Denise Martin. Roger was one of the founding partners of Hobbytyme Distributors. He enjoyed running the business , but most of all he took pride in talking to and meeting his many customers. Over the years he touched countless lives and will be dearly missed by all. Roger was a world traveler and will be remembered as a man who loved an adventure in anything and everything he did. When he was younger, he drove race cars on the weekends which then turned into going to every kind of race he could find, including open wheel, sprint car, dirt track and Nascar. As the years went on, you could find him driving his Nissan/ Datsun 300ZX to his favorite places across Connecticut, including Limerock and Stafford Speedways. Roger also enjoyed taking road trips all over the USA, simply to see what was there to be seen. He loved to attend live concerts, his favorite artist was Pink Floyd. In addition, over the years, Roger traveled to places near and far in search of his next adventure. He loved being in the outdoors, including skiing and hiking in New Hampshire, walking on the beach in Key West and collecting shells on Sanibel Island. Roger also enjoyed traveling with his family, including a number of trips with his sister, Bobbie and her husband Pete. As his grandchildren got older they started traveling with him. As they grew older, he adored hearing the stories of their adventures. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Maxine and Benjamin Harry. He is survived by his sister, Roberta (Bobbie) and her husband Peter Carey of UK; 2 stepdaughters, Wendy and husband Brent Devoe of Florida, and Deborah Severo of California; a stepson, Douglas Collimore, of New Jersey; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will occur, at a later date for friends and family.

Roger and I commuted to CCSC for one year in the Distributive Education program and I knew at some point he would drive something other than a street car, since he had an MG at the time, standard and he would go through the gears like hellfire then. I swear it only took us 20 to get to NB. I tried to find Roger over the years with no luck. May he rest in peace and codolences to the family.
