Roger had a distinguished career as a certified Aircraft Mechanic and a Welding Engineer. His proudest accomplishments included never-before-used techniques at the Tullahoma, Tennessee Wind Tunnel Project from 1977 to 1981; a synthetic fuel project in the U.S. from 1981 to 1983; and work in the Marshall Islands from 1981 to 1991. He was the recipient of many awards and letters of appreciation for outstanding performance. Upon retirement, Roger worked closely with Premier Technology of Blackfoot to found the Rural Idaho Outreach Program, the Catapult Challenge, the robotics program at Salmon High School and was active with the Salmon Valley Hospice and the Senior Center. Roger was an exceptional wood and stone carver, creating his famous wood spirit sculptures both in Utah and in Idaho. Roger's stone carvings exist throughout Lemhi County, highlighting public buildings, parks, businesses, cemeteries, and private homes. He was also a firearm enthusiast, who's passion to shoot the elusive "Perfect Score" began with reading about Elmer Keith. Roger is survived by his beloved companion, Judy Ellis of McCall, ID; lifelong friend Robin Scribner of Branford, CT; twin sisters Leonore Grenier of Manchester, CT, and Leonora Gaudreau of Seymour, CT and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Roger's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17 at the Sacajawea Center, Salmon, ID and will be followed by a pot luck supper.
