BIRD, Richard C. Richard C. Bird, 62, of Mott Lane, Moodus, died at Harbor Hill Care Center, Sunday (July 31, 2005) after a long illness. He was born in Hartford, the son of the late Kenneth I. and Helen (Anderson), Bird, Sr. A graduate of Manchester High School in 1961, attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. He served in Korea with the U.S. Army as a medical corpsman. He had a long career in the food service industry, most recently with the Franklin Academy in East Haddam. Richard is survived by a sister Priscilla Harris and her husband Lawson of Scotia, NY, two brothers, Dr. Kenneth I. Bird, Jr. and his wife Mary of Higganum, CT, Douglas A. Bird and his wife Sue of Aptos, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Richard and his family would like to extend special thanks for the love, care and assistance provided by the M-PACT unit, River Valley Services, Connecticut Valley Hospital, Middlesex Hospital, Gilead Community Services, Community Health Center, Wayne Andrews M.D., Ms. Barbi Batchelder, KUHN Employment Opportunities, Harbor Hill Health Care, and all the staff at the Franklin Academy. The graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Indian Hill Cemetery, Middletown.
